To help residents meet Defensible Space requirements, the BFD is conducting the Defensible Space Resident Assistance Pilot Program (RAP) as part of its Fire Safe Berkeley initiative. This program will provide eligible residents with contractor support to help remove vegetation and comply with defensible space requirements, which may include Zone 0 recommendations per your inspection report.

After assessing your eligibility based on the information you provide in the application, BFD may conduct an inspection to determine eligibility. This is dependent on when you last had a full-access inspection. Program participants are then contacted, contracts are signed, contractors are scheduled, and work can begin. Upon completion of the work, BFD will coordinate a final inspection.
